Expedition Cruise to 80`North
This is an exclusive 4 days cruise for maximum 6 guests. We cruise along the west coast of Spitsbergen and all the way up to 80´North. During this trip we visit highlights like Prins Karls Forland, Kongsfjorden, Magdalenafjorden, Fuglefjorden, NY-Ålesund, Raudfjorden, NY-London, Fjortende Julibukta, Danskøya and the N80`Parallel. We make landings every day, and enjoy the arctic natur, silence and wildlife. Hopefully we will see whales, seals, birds, walruses and, if we are lucky we might see the Polar Bear in untouched nature. Accommodation and meals on board, Spitsbergen Express. Day to day program
Day 1 The guide will meet you at your hotel and welcome you to the Arctic and Longyearbyen. After loading the luggage and equipment on board the boat the tour starts against Forlandet and Poolepynten . Here we will make a landing at a walrus colony if they are present. After experiencing these lazy animals we continue northwards to Magdalenafjorden. This fjord is the best known fjord in Spitsbergen. Here we will anchor up for the night and enjoy the fantastic nature. Day 2 This morning we start with a landing on Gravneset, here you will see remains and cultural herritage from the whaling period, early year 1600 to mid 1700. Gravneset is actually a cemetary where the deceased whalers were buried some centuries ago. After the landing it is again time to head north. Next stop is 80 degrees north. If we are lucky we sail among ice floes and perhaps we will see polar bears in their elements. After crossing 80 degrees north and celebrated this duly we head south towards Raudfjorden where we stay overnight. Raudfjorden is surrounded by mountains and glaciers and you should not be surprised if you choose to stay awake all night just to explore and experience this beautiful fjord. Day 3 We start the morning with a landing on a island which have a great colony of litle auks. Sitting in the bird cliff with thousands of birds flying just above your head is a memory for life. After this remarkable experience we set sail to NY-Ålesund, the world's northernmost research village. The guide will take you on a historical journey through "town". Maybe you want to post the northernmost postcard? Or buy something from the world's northernmost store? In Ny-Ålesund is it time for lunch on board. After lunch, we go ashore in "New London" just North of Ny-Ålesund where the guide tell you about Ernst Mansfield adventure. We spend the night here or closer to the Blomstrand glacier. Day 4 Today we are sailing back to Longyearbyen. Before we are back in town we have a stop in Trygghamna to experience the birds, the landscape and the cultural heritages in this calm bay.
